In this day of smartphones and super fast computers, we are forgetting the power of handwriting. Here are 3 reasons you need to write down your ideas, instead of typing them.

  1. As you write you filter your thoughts: It takes more time and energy writing than it does typing. Because you use more effort as you write, you’re more thoughtful of what you put on the page.
  2. It’s easier to remember what you were thinking: If you don’t want to forget your big idea, it efficient to refer to your notes. The tricky thing with computers and phones is that we save so many forms of media on them that your great ideas risk getting forgotten in there. If you however write you idea and out it in a recipe box, you can access your ideas months, even years later.
  3. Helps you refine your ideas so they make better sense: Sometimes ideas and emotions are hard to articulate into words, hence the expression “No words can describe how I feel…” When you take the time to find the right words to describe your fabulous idea, you’re in a way making a business pitch to yourself. The best thing is you can do this without the distractions your laptop or phone has to offer.

So go ahead and get yourself a nice notebook, sticky notes and a cool pen – those ideas in your head won’t work on themselves!
