SAILORS

Sailors is a Kenyan Dabonge Style music group which was established in 2017 with three members namely; Miracle Baby, Lexxy Young and Qoqos Juma. Later on, in December that year, Shalkido and Masilver joined making it a 5 member boy group.

Shalkido was identified during his performance at the second MRX Sessions, an event held to empower youths in different capacities, created by media personality Mwalimu Rachel.  Impressed by the young man's talent, she took the opportunity to propose a partnership that saw the group get one more member.

Sailors have a number of hits under their belt including the famous Wamlambez that brought along the Wamlambez Wave. It became a national anthem of sorts and the accompanying #WamlambezChallenge captured global attention. The phrase turned into a greeting, whether in a busy working environment or while class is in session, one wouldn't lack a response if they shouted Wamlambez! Their other singles include Pekejeng, Queen B Machine, Wainame and Jesu ni Mwathani.

Their ability to blend in with different genres has enabled them to work with other artists to create greater music such as 'Wakiritho' with Hip hop heavy weight Octopizzo,Nyandus' with dancehall sensation KRG the Don and DJ Lyta,'Katanisha' with Joefes, Kawazim and kaskizia with Boondocks Gang and ‘Ni Tekenye’ with Nadia Mukami thus, diversifying their audience  Check out the bad boys get in a lovey dovey mood in anticipation for Valentine's day!

The group's versatility, hard work, consistency and good management has helped them stay on top of their game, curving their own niche in the music industry. They have had their fair share of success, which include nominations at the 2019 Pulse Music Video Awards where they bagged all 4 awards they were nominated for i.e. New Wave of the Year for Wainame, Best Group of the year with the song Pekejeng, Viewers Choice of the year for Wamlambez and the Best Collaboration of the year for their role in Wakiritho with Octopizzo. They enjoy an impressive viewership of over 17 million You Tube views for their five singles since launching their first music video in 2019.

To God they bestow all the glory for their accomplishments in 'Jesu Ni Mwathani', a thanks giving song in which they take time to appreciate His goodness. They've joined a growing number of secular artists who remind us that we are all sons of a similar deity despite the paths we take up in life. Who are we to judge, after all, thanks giving isn't a preserve for the chosen few.

To all crew on board MV Sailors, buckle up and get ready for a voyage of a lifetime, in the high seas of good music.
